Creating a sender profile
Save a From name, an address on your sending domain, and a reply-to once, then pick it in every workflow action.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”A sender profile is a saved combination of From name, From address, and reply-to address. In the Send transactional email action you pick a profile from a dropdown, so an email can never go out with a mistyped address.
Every profile sends from your own sending domain: you type only the part
before the @, such as billing, and Settings adds your domain. You can create
as many profiles as you like on every plan — one for billing receipts, one for
account notices, one whose replies go to your account team.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- The Super Admin role in HubSpot. Other users see sender profiles read-only.
- A sending domain, added on the Sending domain tab. It doesn’t need to be verified yet. See Setting up your sending domain. Until you add one, the Sender profiles tab asks you to add it first, and you can test with the built-in sandbox sender instead (see below).
- Open Settings. In HubSpot, go to Marketplace apps → Transactional Email and open Settings → Sender profiles.
- Click Add sender profile. The New sender profile form opens.
- Enter the From name. This is the name recipients see in their inbox, such as “Acme Billing.”
- Enter the From address. Type only the part before the @, such as
billing. The form shows the full address underneath — for the domainnotify.acme.com, Sends from billing@notify.acme.com. - Add a Reply-to address (optional). Replies go here instead of the From
address. It can be any address, such as
support@acme.com. - Choose whether it’s the default. Check Use as the default sender profile to list it first, marked (default), in the workflow action’s Sender profile dropdown.
- Click Create sender profile.
The profile appears in the Sender profiles list and in the Sender profile dropdown of every Send transactional email action, listed by its From name and address, such as Acme Billing billing@notify.acme.com. Your first profile is always the default, marked Default in the list.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”- In the sandbox, emails go out from Cambium’s shared sandbox address — the Sender profiles tab shows it — with your profile’s From name. Replies go to the profile’s reply-to, or to its From address on your domain when it has none.
- When you go live, emails go out from the profile’s address on your verified domain. If you replace your sending domain, every profile moves to the new domain automatically.
The built-in sandbox sender
Section titled “The built-in sandbox sender”Until you go live, the workflow action’s Sender profile dropdown also offers Sandbox sender (sandbox only). It needs no setup, so you can send a test email before you add a domain:
- Emails come from the sandbox address with the From name Cambium Transactional Email. A super admin can change the name under Sandbox sender From name on the Sender profiles tab.
- Replies go to the person who installed the app.
- Once you go live it disappears from the dropdown, and an action still set to
it fails with
sender_invalid. Switch those actions to one of your sender profiles before you subscribe.
- To route replies differently — renewal notices to your account team, say — create another profile with a different reply-to rather than editing a shared one.
- Use a From address people can recognize and reply to. Avoid
no-replyaddresses when customers might have questions about a receipt.
